iText for Windows is a program developed by Michiaki Yamashita. It is a more austere version of LightWayText, another word editor made by the same developer. Mainly, iText is a text editor designed to look as the old Apple text editors. The look is exactly the same, and it also has the nice feature of interface customization, allowing you to change the color of the window. The editor has some small word processing tools, which are easily accessible from the main window with the help of a series of drop-down menus and buttons. It also offers many features to improve the look of a document, which goes beyond the standard text editor features.
So iText is a program meant to look like an old Apple program, and it is not quite a text editor nor a word processing tool, so it is right smacked in between the two functionalities. Therefore, there is no reason to have a program that cannot do what Word could do, but with more functionality than Notepad can offer. In addition, although the old style design is clean and very well made, its appearance makes you feel like you are working on a 10-year-old computer.
